Borrowed Camera

Yesterday, my son ask me if he could borrow my camera.....

My CAMERA? Being fellow bloggers, you all understand the gravity of this question. Hesitantly, I consented.

When he returned it, I uploaded the pictures, and this is what I found~
The next one is my personal favorite~

He sat the camera up on the dresser and used the timer function (which incidentally, I don't even know how to do) except for the last one in which he just held the camera out in front. Simply Precious:)

Our cat Tigger is truly the most gentle and tolerant cat on the planet. He and my DS are about the same age, Tigger is 6 months younger. They are growing up together and certainly share a special bond. My son often refers to Tigger as his best friend, and it would seem Tigger feels the same way:)

Hope everyone has a Happy LEAP Day!! It is supposed to be warm this weekend and I have potatoes, onions and lettuce to plant so I won't be around very much. Hope you all have a great one and I'll see you in a couple of days~Rhonda

Craft'n Fever

I've been feeling crafty lately....

Do you remember way back in November when I showed you the rose embroidery I was making? Well, I finally completed it and turned it into a pillow for my couch. Here is the finished product~

Inside is a nice soft down insert. I am thinking of making a blind for one of the windows with the same look as the back.

Of course it may be another 3 months until I get around to it:)

Floral Tea

Guess what showed up on my doorstep yesterday? That's right....a box in a box! My son was soooo excited, he thought there would be another box inside of it and then another inside of it and so on....

But instead of nesting boxes, I found this~

A beautiful floral tea cup with a precious arrangement of petite posies. Tied to the handle with a satin bow was a lovely little hand-made tag...

Don't you just love the beautiful Dove with its wings outstretched, carrying a rose in it's beak?!

This wonderful gift was made for me by Mary at Little Red House. I participated in a her Pay It Forward challenge a little while back and this is my gorgeous reward:) It looks absolutely perfect sitting on my Grandmother's cedar trunk. Thank you so much Mary, it's colorful and cheerful and I just love it!!

Here's your SIGN!

I have always been one of those people who jump in with both feet without know whether I will land securely or fall flat on my rumpus....my latest experience was one of those bumpier, sore rear-end types.....here is what happened.

A couple of weeks ago, I was visiting Robin at Bittersweet Punkin. She was featuring Penny Rugs that day. I followed the links she provided and found myself falling instantly in love with a new craft. As luck would have it, I had purchased a large amount of wool items before Christmas with the intention of felting them and making some purses and stockings. It was now February, and here they sat, exactly the way I found them.Well, inspiration took hold of me so I got on-line and found sites that explained the felting process. I eagerly divided the basket into two loads and happily dumped them into the hot soapy water all the while dreaming of the beautiful Penny Rugs I could design from the warm earthy textures and colors.

Later that evening, I went in to take the second load out of the washer and noticed a strange electrical smell in the laundry room....."Hmmmm, what the devil is that!" Oh, no! The washer had stopped in mid spin cycle, this can not be good...."Honey, there is something wrong with the washing machine." I made this remark at about 7:00 pm.

Sometime around Midnight, after my Dear, Sweet, Adorable Hubby and I had finished disassembling the washer for the second time to clear out all of the wool fuzz that had become entangled in the pump motor, I took this photo:As I snapped the shot, I could hear Jeff Foxworthy's voice in my head...."Here's your sign!"

God love my DH's wonderfully gentle and tolerant soul. It's a wonder he didn't ring my neck on the spot or at least yell a little, but he didn't. He simply said, "The next time you decide to felt, go ahead and call the washing machine repair man." I love you, Honey! XO

Of course, in the midst of the frustation and hard labor....my son, in his typical~ everyday is a holiday type attiude~ turned the washer shell into a submarine....the lid was the hatch door:) He gave the whole project a tumbs up!

After all of the embarrassing Hoop-La, I did make a Penny Rug. I used an old quilt applique pattern called, "Crow & Stars" and I hand stitched each piece using wool thread. I was quite pleased with the way it turned out. I think of them as a pair, male and female, settled in for the evening. He is the one on the left, quietly watching over and protecting his mate. She is calmly resting, knowing that she is safe and loved....even when she sometimes acts foolishly and has to be rescued by here adoring sweetie.
BTW, a couple of days later, I discoverd the secret to felting in the washer WITHOUT destroying the appliance. Simply put the wool items into pillow covers, the ones with the zippers. This way, all of the shedding wool remains inside the bag. Simple, but priceless advice....trust me!

MIA

Sorry, I haven't been around lately. My plate has been quite full the last couple of weeks. I'll be sure and tell you all the details in the coming days, but for now I just wanted to say "HI!" and let you know that I'm putting on my visiting cape and bonnet and I'll be knocking on your door today or tomorrow....if it's not too much of an imposition, I would love a spot of tea or a hot cuppa, I'll bring the Jam Muffins:)

Be sure and check in with me tomorrow when I answer the question: How can a simple basket of woolens~

elicit such a look?~

I'll tell you tomorrow.....

New Day

Looks like it's going to be a great DAY:)

I just love days that have you raring to go as soon as you wake-up. Today is one of those days. I have lots of items to accomplish on my To Do list and I am ready to meet the challenge:) Many of these things involve being outside today and tomorrow...yeap, it looks like I'm going to get that chance to play in the dirt! The temps are supposed to be in the low 60's~YIPPIE!!

By the end of the day, I will be aching and sore from head to foot, my clothes will be covered in dirt stains and my hair will smell like smoke from the brush fire I will create to clear and clean-up my garden area. I will drag myself in at dark, devor whatever is in the fridge, take a very long, very hot shower and probably fall asleep sitting in my chair reading a book. Now, doesn't that sound inviting?!!! Hope you girls have a great weekend, and I will see you on Monday.
