Winter's Reprieve

Just when I needed it the most......Mother nature, in her kindness, has granted us a slight reprieve from the biting cold of winter and the last two days have been sunny and mild.

Now, I know you are thinking~What, I thought she said she liked the winter?! No, my friends, let me clarify. I like the SNOW.....not the winter. Once the pretty white stuff melts....I am over it and ready for Spring!! Even though precious BJ at Sweet Nothings did a very good job of extolling the virtues of the season in her post the other day, about this time of year I start to feel like a caged bird.......

The timing of my unrest always seems to coincide with the arrival of my seed catalogs~ It is a chicken and the egg scenario....I'm not sure which one comes first:)

I start to be overtaken by the powerful desire to get out and play in the dirt. Just to till up a patch of ground, inhale it's warm earthy scent (sorry, Michelle, I know you are gagging right about now) and enfold tiny vegetable or flower seeds within. Seeds with so much promise and potential.... like a wee babe, just starting out on its journey. Of course there will be adversity; weeds, pests, possible/probable drought. But through it all, if it is nurtured correctly, it will persevere and bring forth a beautiful harvest:)

NO...I did not spike my coffee this morning:) I'll just blame my ramblings on a bad case of Spring Fever!

I hope you all get at least a few rays of warm Sunshine today.....and just think, in a few months time we will all be talking about how hot it is and wishing for snow:)

It's that time of year, isn't it? I'm wishing that Spring would hurry along, too! Only our Spring here in the Southwest will last just a couple of weeks and them we'll be hit with the heat! *sigh* I'll be one of them complaining about the heat in just a couple of months! : )

Hope you get all your wishes. I love the smell of fresh soil and cut grass.

I have seen so many buds on things and I don't know how but...well today it is 53 degrees and raining here...I guess the plants are being fooled...they may get humbled though as we haven't had any winter at all yet. I always watch for the crocus to pop up but I love the forsythia the most!

I'm dying for spring too, it couldn't come soon enough for me, though being in Arizona, it really shouldn't matter since it's always hot LOL

Well pack your bikini and suntan lotion and head over my way today cause it's hot, H-o-T, HOT here! The pool is crystal clean and sparling in the noon day summer sun, the glasses are chilling in the freezer, and the fruit salad is crisp and refreshinly cool. I'll pop out an extra recliner on the pool deck for you ok? lol I'm a tease aren't I sweetie? mawhaaahaaa

Hi Rhonda,
When I read BJ's post you were talking about I was reminded of something my mother always said to me when I would wish for time to move along. "You're wishing your life away"! At that point I thought I would be young forever, I guess. NOW I know what she meant!

I really am glad for all the seasons. I think I would be bored living where it was hot all the time or cold all the time.

Look at it this way, you can use this cooped up time to check out those seed catalogs and plan that garden!!

Hugs,
Hope

Oh Rhonda! Your winter ramblings were most amusing...I'm still smiling. I loved the photos of the bird cages...I just bought a vintage one in Florida. Hopefully, spring is arounds the corner. I'm grateful that winter hasn't been too bad in PA. Hang in there just a bit longer!

We had a slight reprieve, with temps in the upper 40's for a couple of days, than...BAM! Snow day today with high winds and wind chills in the way below zero category!
Enough already! I am SO ready for spring!

Well, girlfriend...just hang on and hang in there...Spring will be commin' soon. After the wait, think how much she will be welcomed.
I still like the fire in the fireplace better than sweating and working but that's probably because I'm old !! :)
Hope your day is full of sun....
hugs, bj
