A Sign of Good Luck!

My house sitting assignment is over and I am ready to dive head first into the Christmas season. I am one of those people who waits until after Thanksgiving to decorate and think Christmas. I know I am in the minority here so please girls forgive me, but it drives me crazy to walk into a store before Halloween and see Christmas items......

Not that I am a huge fan of Halloween, but I am a huge fan of Thanksgiving and I think it gets short changed. True it is not the cash cow that Christmas has become but to me it has the most unassuming nature of all the holidays....it is purely about gratitude with no expectations of "What do I get in return?"

OK, after having said that and hopefully not alienating myself from any of you I have grown to love:)....I am all about Christmas from now 'til DECEMBER 25th.

I had to show you what I found on our annual Tree hunt.....
Yes.....a bird's nest in our Christmas Tree. As soon as I saw it I knew this was the tree. I will leave nature's decoration exactly where it is~maybe give it a new inhabitant. I believe there is an old saying about gaining good luck if you find a nest in your tree~wouldn't that be a nice gift?

Doesn't a nest in a Christmas tree mean "good luck"? What a perfect nature's ornament. Love the stockings you did for Penny.

Rhonda darling, who could feel alienated from you?? You're a sweetheart. I don't decorate before Thanksgiving either. The Saturday after is another story.

That nest makes it the most perfect tree!

I'm a Thanksgiving girl, myself. It's all about being thankful......no gifts allowed.

Oh Yes, It's good luck to find a nest in your tree. I have never been fortunate to find one but I always put a "faux" nest in our trees. And I completely feel the way you do about Thanksgiving. It's my favorite holiday with (like you said) no expectations....just family, friends, great food and fellowship. ~ Lynn

I'm with you, visions of sugarplums do tend to dance in my head before Thanksgiving but I don't indulge myself until the day after. It gives me something positive to do on Black Friday besides fight crowds:>) How awesome that you got a tree with a birds nest! Sweet, I would keep it too and it would make me smile every time I saw it!

By the way, I saw your stockings that you made for Penny and they are beautiful! How nice of you to do a custom order for her:>)

I love finding nests in my tree! We have a son with a birthday on Dec. 6 and I'd said that we wouldn't decorate until after his birthday. He's old enough now to demand that we decorate before his birthday.
