Birthday Boy

You came into the world at a mere 4lbs 2oz. You immediately set out to captivate all who would encounter you. Your love for exploring and your need to know constantly astound and challenge me.

Happy 5th Birthday son, you will always be my Sunshine.
We held my son's birthday party on Sunday.
The sound of kids running around, laughing, playing.... enjoying conversations with family and friends.... a beautiful fall afternoon.... looking out over the lake.... delicious food. What a perfect way to celebrate.

Update: Yesterday we had doctor visits. TB test is NEGATIVE:) X-Ray results show some improvement but still some "persistent infiltrates"(we are praying fervently about these).
His coughing has all but ceased and he no longer complains of pain in his chest. He is still on inhalers and will continue at least until next Monday when we have our next round of appointments... Sweat Test for CF and repeat X-Ray.
He also had an appointment at the Heart Doctor's for a routine check-up for a birth defect. He has a bicuspid aortic valve. The danger with this is that the pressure inside his heart and outside his heart are not the same. This causes strain on the valve and can cause it to wear out and leak over time. The doctor was excited as he relayed the results to me. He said "Great news Mom! Somehow there is even less pressure variation now than there was 2 years ago." This is generally not the case. Usually the pressure gradient remains the same or increases over time. He seemed surprised and I believe a little puzzled. I just smiled and gave credit where credit is due.... "Thank you, dear Lord!"

"Somehow" indeed =) And we know that all things work together for good for those who serve the Lord... Imagine all the people who've read this story now... The daily posts (all things) coming to a cumulative story (work together) and now we praise our Father for improved health (for good). Blessings... Polly

Happy Birthday to your precious angel! Fortunately a sweat test is not painful...I'll keep on praying. Things are looking good so far. I remember working in Pediatrics and taking my first patient for a sweat test. I prayed right along with his parents, too. Please keep us posted.
